9 Ways to Get the Most out of 140 Characters

Do you find yourself struggling to get your tweets to not only fit within the 140 character limit on Twitter, but also to make sense?  Here are some tips to help you get the most out of 140 characters.

  1. Less is More – Just because you can use up to 140 characters does not mean you HAVE to.  Just be clear and concise, and if you end up way under the 140 character limit, there is nothing wrong with that!
  2. Shorten URL’s – By default Twitter will shorten URL’s with tinyurl.  However, there are some services out there such as BudURL which will actually track your clicks.
  3. Use Acronyms – There are so many acronyms floating around, but I would suggest sticking to more common ones so that there is not any confusion of what you are trying to say.  Some notable common ones are LOL, BRB, TTYL, RT, etc.  Not sure what acronym to use?  There are many acronym guides online you can take a look at.
